Levi

Levi is 8 years old.  He is the baby of our family.  Unfortunately, we knew he was going to be the baby of the family since his birth….so we have treated him as the baby for eight years now.  This is a role that he relishes, revels in, and is exceedingly good at.  He has no desire to grow up….go to school….or otherwise be independent of me.  It makes my heart squishy and mushy and makes my love for him grow all the more.  For about the first 2 years of his life.  For the past 6 years it has mostly given me gray hair and has made me slightly crazy (or crazier, if you will). As a middle child myself, I can totally relate to my older child, middle child, and middle-middle child when they scream, gnash their teeth and plot Levi’s demise…when he has played the “baby” card one time too many.  But then I look into Levi’s big brown eyes, see the flash of the dimple visible only when he is full-on being mischevious….and my heart melts again.

And no, he is not my favorite.  I don’t play favorites, you know.  But don’t tell HIM that, ‘kay?

This is Levi.  And the blond haired, blue eyed, freckle nosed little nymph beside him is cousin Amanda.  She and Levi are best buds.  They are also both last born children, so the theatrics and screaming and fighting and pouting that sometimes ensues when they’re together is to be expected.  It’s also responsible for about 75% of my gray hair.  I love that freckle nosed little turkey though….

    Hi Angie,

You don’t know me, but I read about you all on Jonah’s Caringbridge site everytime I get a little reminder telling me it’s been updated. My name is Chari Fireline and I work at OMU and met Larry (and learned about Jonah) when he worked for the City. I enjoy reading your stories and hearing about Jonah’s updates. You are a fabulous writer! Keep it coming!

BTW…I never realized how much Levi is his DADDY made over!!!

Hi Chari! Yep, all of my children look like Larry, but this one….he is the mirror image of his daddy! Including that little dimple on their right cheeks, which is only visible when they’re being mischevious. I love those dimples!!

PS Wouldn’t you think that at least ONE of the four kids would resemble me? How is that fair?!?!?!
